Ueno Zoo

Panda Don't let  the size of the map full you, this is not a small zoo.  It is easy, if you read all the signs, to spend all day there. The animals looked healthy and well fed. The best part for the kids are the tiger cages. The enclosure is strong glass and stone. Where the tigers are laying and you  can almost reach out and scratch them behind the ears (if its not for the glass). Very cool. None of your small cages here. You can get a map in English. It's a good and inexpensive way to send the day.

Shinjuku

Sakuraya_neon Shinjuku is a major district of Tokyo for work or play, with its west side seismically stable, reason enough for being Tokyo's skyscraper district. At Shinjuku's west side you will find the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices, a major office of Microsoft, and many other impressive skyscrapers. The east side of Shinjuku is devoted to shopping and nightlife, among many attractions you will find Tokyo's largest red-light district, Kabukicho, and gay nightlife central, Shinjuku ni-chome.

National museum of Modern Art

Modernart_tokyoextok The admission to this Museum will cost you zero on Sundays. At the entrance you will find very nice and helpfull people, and if you ask nicely enough you can have a stamp in your brochure. Good art featured, the set up is good. Start from the 4th floor and work your way down. Avoid the restaurant though the food is not that good. Enjoy!

Kawasaki

Kawasakidaishi_courtyardKawasaki is a largely industrial area and residential suburb between Tokyo and Yokohama. You can visit the Kawasaki Daishi, a large temple dedicated to the famed monk and scholar Kobo Daishi, which features an eight sided, five storied pagoda, is a textbook example of a Japanese temple. Another interesting but in a weird way, place to visit is the Wakamiya Hachiman-gū Shrine , it is a quiet Shinto shrine, pretty distinguishable from your average shrine for one "detail", it is one of Japan's few remaining fertility shrines, and the deity venerated here assumes the form of a meter-long iron phallus, known as Kanamara-sama.

Inokashira Park

Kichijojiblossom Inokashira Park in Kichijōji, Tokyo, is is a large park with extensive walking paths surrounding a lake, filled with both cherry trees and maples and an excellent choice to go to see both cherry blossoms and fall colors. On weekends, the vendors gather along the paths to sell handmade crafts, and rental boats are available to paddle around the lake.

Sightseen in Tokyo

Are you making a trip to  Tokyo but you don´t know where to start? well, I found some things that look interesting and I wanted to share them with you.

Th_tokyo_dec_2004003 You can start going to The Imperial Gardens, simply exquisite gardens of course like the name says they are next to the Imperial Palace :)

Then you have the Sensoji Temple Asakusa, excellent architecture and of course it has great gardens as well, I think they just love gardens..

Enough with the gardens and flowers, if you are there for the fashion you MUST go to Shibuya there you can see, try on, buy, have some fun!

If you are one of my kind (and by that I mean an electronic geek :D) you can´t miss Akihabara, Tokyo´s electric town :) yay! that´s paradise, and no flowers involved.

Feel free to send me presents :) . Hajimemashite ;)
